Toronto, Canada-based architect Doug Carrick has been named president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA).
Principal of Carrick Design, he was elected president at the recent ASGCA Annual Meeting in Seattle, Wash.
Carrick, who succeeds Bruce Charlton of Robert Trent Jones II Golf Design as president, has designed more than 50 golf courses, primarily in Canada, with additional projects in Scotland and the U.S.
His plans as the association’s president include promotion of golf’s social, economic and environmental benefits and support of efforts to design shorter courses which he feels will allow for faster, cheaper play.
