KemperSports has been selected to manage Lyman Orchards Golf Club, a 45-hole public facility located about 22 miles south of Hartford.
The Middlefield property features two 18-hole championship courses — the Jones Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., and the Player Course, designed by Gary Player — along with the nine-hole Apple Course, a par-3 layout that opened in 2012 and has been recognized among the top short courses in the state.
Owner John Lyman III said the management agreement is intended to enhance course conditions, customer service and overall operations.
“Lyman Orchards Golf Club is widely considered one of the best public golf facilities in Connecticut,” said KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner. “We look forward to working with ownership and our new Lyman Orchards team members to elevate the golf experience through improved golf course conditions and enhanced programming.”
Opened in 1969, the Jones Course features strategic bunkering, elevation changes and large green complexes. The Player Course, which debuted in 1995, winds through the property’s orchard landscape and is known for its dramatic terrain and small greens.
The facility has also built a strong reputation for player development and instruction, earning multiple honors from the Connecticut Section PGA and the LPGA for youth programming and growth-of-the-game initiatives.
In addition to golf, Lyman Orchards includes the 1741 Pub & Grill and is part of a larger, year-round destination that spans more than 1,100 acres.
KemperSports manages more than 240 golf courses, private clubs and sports venues nationwide. In Connecticut, the company also manages Lake of Isles and Insports.
