Damac Properties announced it will be working with the Trump Organization to develop Trump’s second course in United Arab Emirates. The Trump World Golf Club Dubai will be an 18-hole championship-standard course with a club house, pro shop and other amenities, set to open in late 2017.
Damac properties has not announced who will be designing the course but says it is a world-renowned golf professional, to be revealed in the next few weeks. The project has already broken ground.
In May 2013, Donald Trump and golf architect Gil Hanse launched the Trump International Golf Club, Dubai project, set to open in late 2015. Both of Trump’s courses will be on Damac Properties’ Akoya Oxygen, a 55 million-square-foot development site, originally slated for Tiger Woods Dubai, a project that was cancelled in 2011.
“The Trump Organization is renowned as the best golf course owners and operators in the world and will deliver the highest quality service to players coming to enjoy Dubai’s great climate and Akoya Oxygen’s great facilities,” said Ziad El Chaar managing director of Damac Properties in a statement.
Trump and Damac Properties have also discussed the possibility of building a Trump hotel on the Akoya Oxygen site, El Chaar told Arabianbusiness.com. Trump had previous plans to launch a hotel in Dubai but cancelled the project in 2011 due to the global credit crunch.
In June, Trump stated he had no desire to pursue further golf developments in the Middle East.
“I only do something if I can top it and I’m not going to be able to top this golf course in the Middle East,” Trump told Arabianbusiness.com.
In addition to golf courses, the Akoya Oxygen property includes residential homes, retail shops and hotels.
Trump Golf currently has courses throughout the world in several American states, Ireland and of course, the home of the sport: Scotland.
