Georgia Club to transition to private after membership growth

The Georgia Club in Statham, Ga. will transition from a semi-private club to a private club on November 1, bolstered by an influx of new members. The club hired Bobby Jones Links in July of 2011 to manage the club and grounds operations. Since then membership has grown by 700 percent, and homes in the community have grown from  190 to 400.

When Bobby Jones Links took over, it first sought to pull the club out of a $2 million debt. It also improved services and amenities, increased rounds from 17,200 to 38,000 a year, and boosted the club’s reputation.

The Georgia Club is a 27-hole course that includes a 42,000-square-foot Georgian Clubhouse and pro shop, a swim park and fitness center.

“This impactful level of growth in membership and home sales showcases the strong need in the Statham community for an exclusive golf and club membership experience,” said Kaitlin Looby, Vice President of Marketing and Sales of Bobby Jones Links. “Achieving this milestone of transitioning to a private club is a testament to The Georgia Club’s members and neighbors who make the club one of the premier communities in the Southeast.”

The club was ranked ninth on Golfweek’s 2019 “Best Courses You Can Play” and was featured as Architectural Digest’s 2019 “Most Beautiful Clubhouse in Georgia.”

In addition, Pan-Pacific Fairway acquired The Georgia Club in December of 2015. The hotspot created a waiting list for future neighborhoods.

The facilities will remain available to non-members for privately hosted events. The club is offering discounted initiation fees from July through October in an upcoming promotion geared toward prospective members.
