Drive Shack finalizes two more course sales

Drive Shack, the parent company of American Golf, has sold two more courses.

The Crossing Golf Club in Franklin, Tenn. has been sold to Golf Franklin Bridge LLC, a company headed by PGA golf professional Brooks West, a former Yamaha Golf-Car Co. executive. In addition, The Trophy Club of Apalachee in Dacula, Ga, was sold to Golf Apalachee LLC.

The sales are part of Drive Shack’s strategy to divest as many as 25 AGC clubs and use the proceeds from those sales to develop golf entertainment centers.

The Crossing, a daily fee course in the Nashville area, was formerly Forest Crossing Golf Club but changed its name in the wake of protests concerning its connection with former Confederate Army General Nathan Bedford Forrest, who later became a grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.

The individual behind Golf Apalachee was not named, but reportedly is a long-time golf industry executive. The Trophy Club course designed by former PGA Tour player and broadcaster Steve Melnyk, opened in 1994.

The sale price was not disclosed, however, the club was listed for $2.4 million.
