Escalante Golf has acquired Tumble Creek in Cle Elum, Washington, adding its first property in the state and expanding its portfolio to 27 golf clubs.
Located about 80 miles east of Seattle, Tumble Creek is a private, gated residential golf community adjacent to Suncadia Resort. Designed by Tom Doak and opened in 2006, the course offers a player-friendly layout while still challenging accomplished golfers.
It features a player-friendly experience that accommodates golfers of all skill levels while also presenting higher challenge areas for advanced players. The course was ranked No. 5 in Washington by Golf Digest for 2025-26 and No. 3 among the state’s private courses by Golfweek.
As part of the acquisition, Escalante Golf assumes ownership of the club, golf course and remaining real estate within the community, including approximately 330 homesites still available for development. Current Tumble Creek members will continue to enjoy access to the club and Suncadia’s resort amenities, including its two 18-hole championship courses.
The property also includes a 17,000-square-foot clubhouse that opened in 2019, featuring indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, dining venues, bowling lanes, a golf simulator and panoramic views of the Cascade Mountains.

Escalante plans to make golf course improvements focused on playability, maintenance and long-term agronomic performance. The company also expects to update the fitness area and evaluate club programming based on member feedback.
Based in Fort Worth, Texas, Escalante owns and operates its properties across 18 states. Tumble Creek joins Escalante’s other Pacific Northwest property, Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, Oregon, which it acquired in 2015.
McDonald said the move into Washington carries personal significance because of his family’s roots in Yakima.
“This region has always been close to my heart,” he said. “We’re excited to bring Escalante’s approach to member-focused service and high-quality golf experiences to Tumble Creek.”
Looking ahead, McDonald said Escalante will continue pursuing established clubs with strong operations and engaged memberships rather than distressed properties.
“We’ve had recent acquisitions across the country and believe this shows, above all else, we’re simply seeking the right fit for our operating model and vision for the member experience,” he said. “Our acquisition strategy is to seek out established assets that have been well run by previous owners…Our goal is to honor the prior ownership group’s legacy and implement a few tweaks here and there to make an already exceptional member experience even better.”
