Adobe Creek in Santa Rosa acquired, to be reopened

Adobe Creek Golf Course in Santa Rosa, Calif. has a new lease on life. The Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed course was closed in December after the bankruptcy course appointed a receiver to oversee foreclosure.

Adobe Creek had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in March 2010 after the club defaulted on a $6 million loan used by investor JG Orbis Corp. to develop the golf course, the Argus-Courier reported.

The lender, East West Bancorp, sold the course to Sonoma County builder Bill Gallaher, former owner of the Oakmont Golf Course in Santa Rosa. Terms of the sale were not available.

Bill Carson, general manager of two other Santa Rosa courses, will now take over maintenance of the course.

“It could take two or three months to assess the course and figure out what needs to be done and what needs to happen to reopen,” Carson told the Argus-Courier.

Adobe Creek Golf Club, an 18-hole course, opened in 1990 as an amenity to a home development.
