Open Golf Club hires new COO

Paul Armitage will join Open Golf Club as Chief Operating Officer on September 1, 2020.

Open Golf Club is a leading international golf management company and one of the largest in Europe. Based in France, it manages 50 clubs in six countries — France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, Portugal and Italy.

Armitage will work closely with Open Golf Club Managing Director Laurent Boissonnas, based in the group’s head office in Paris, and will focus on management and operations, client experience, technology and sales.

For the past six years, Armitage was Managing Director of Le Golf National, Paris, overseeing the venue’s transformation into a world class destination and host of The 2018 Ryder Cup. He was born and raised in England, but has lived in France since 1991. He was previously managing director of NGFGolf, then the largest operator in Europe. Under his leadership, it grew from 76 to 116 facilities.

Open Golf Club was founded in 1987 to focus on management and acquisition of golf destinations — facilities with both golf and onsite or nearby hotels.
