Winding Brook golf course in Shepherd, Michigan will be auctioned on Tuesday, May 4th, with a minimum bid at approximately $200,000. The property was assessed at $1.6 million.
Isabella County foreclosed on the property in the early fall because of back taxes owed since 2006. The 150-acre site does not include a clubhouse, and the sale does not include equipment and carts. There is also a liquor license in escrow, and one liquor license available in Coe Township.
The 18-hole course is a par 72 course with 6,669 yards. The course rating is 72.6 and it has a slope rating of 127. Winding Brook golf course opened in 1970. Total Golf, Inc. manages the facility.
Isabella County Treasurer Steve Pickens told the Morning Sun News that Winding Brook is a viable business.
“I’m hoping that someone buys it to maintain it as a golf course,” he said. “The people of Shepherd have had this for many years. But I don’t have control over that after it sells.”
