A private, regional operator with a multi-course portfolio has acquired Blackstone Golf Club in Marengo, Illinois, one of the Chicago area’s highest-rated daily-fee courses. The 18-hole public course is known for delivering a private club-style experience without requiring membership.
Blackstone is an 18-hole course designed by Bob Lohmann with a total of 6,734 yards and a par of 72. It opened in 2006 by Daniel Weck, who served as owner, operator and seller.
Amenities include a full driving range, a short-game area and a clubhouse with a pro shop, locker rooms, showers, two dining options and banquet facilities for hosting weddings and other events.
Blackstone’s standout feature is its natural setting. The course features bentgrass greens and fairways, 26 acres of protected wetlands that impact 13 holes, and nine holes that run through mature oak and hickory forest.
Each hole offers four tee boxes to accommodate a range of skill levels. The club’s website notes that seasoned players will be tested by 54 sand bunkers, while newer golfers can enjoy generous fairways and scenic views.
Chris Charnas of Links Capital Advisors represented the seller, describing the property as “a turnkey operation with positive cash flow and opportunities to increase revenue through food, beverage, outings and events.”
The course was listed for $6.8 million. The final purchase price was not disclosed.
