Heritage Golf Group has acquired Legacy Golf Club in Sarasota, Florida, and is repositioning it as a fourth course for Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club, which sits adjacent to Legacy and is Heritage’s most recent acquisition.
Legacy Golf Club features an 18-hole Arnold Palmer signature course as well as a 12,500-square-foot clubhouse and a practice facility. The acquisition and repositioning give Lakewood Ranch a total of 72 holes of golf to complement its other offerings, such as two clubhouses, two golf practice facilities, 20 pickleball courts, 20 tennis courts, a full-service 24-hour fitness center, two heated swimming pools and bocce ball and croquet courts.
Legacy’s golf course is currently closed for a multi-million-dollar golf course renovation project that will rebuild the greens, tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and cart paths. The renovation is expected to be completed in late 2024 with the course reopening shortly thereafter.
“There was a definite opportunity and need for more golf at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club,” said Mark Burnett, President and CEO of Heritage. “The inclusion of the Legacy Golf Course grants our members unparalleled access to private golf, and with major golf course renovations already underway, it signals a promising future for both current and prospective members.”
