A new golf resort at Ury Estate, near Stonehaven, will be a part of the Jack Nicklaus Golf Clubs network of courses available for Nicklaus Clubs members to play throughout the world. Plans have been approved by local councilors for the restoration of the Ury House and construction of the golf course, with approvals pending for approximately 230 homes on and around the 1,500-acre estate. The Nicklaus Signature course will be only the second Nicklaus-designed course in Scotland. It will be the first Jack Nicklaus Golf Clubs member course in the U.K, joining others in Tuscany, New Zealand, St. Lucia and Anguilla in a network that is planned to eventually include 25 clubs worldwide. The Ury Estate project is being developed by FM Developments. The Nicklaus-designed golf course is tentatively scheduled for a 2010 opening.
