Two of the newest Tournament Players Club courses — TPC at Baha Mar and TPC Cartagena at Karibana — have hired general managers. TJ Baggett will oversee operations at the new course at the $3.5 billion development in The Bahamas, while Sam Logan will manage golf operations at the Colombian course, respectively.
Baggett, who has spent nearly the last three decades in the hospitality and golf industry, will manage TPC at Baha Mar’s 18-hole, Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, The Royal Blue Tavern restaurant and TPC at Baha Mar Clubhouse. He started his career in golf at Brandermill Country Club in Richmond, Va. and has overseen golf operations at Prince Course at Princeville Golf Club in Princeville, Hawaii; Payne Stewart Golf Club in Branson, Mo. and has had opening operational responsibilities at a number of facilities.
“We’re thrilled to have TJ’s expertise and insight at the forefront of the club,” Senior Director of Business Development Vic Aliprando said in a news release.
TPC at Baha Mar is located on the largest single-phase luxury resort project in the history of the Caribbean.
Sam Logan, a decade-long hospitality industry veteran, will serve as general manger at TPC Cartagena at Karibana, which also features a Jack Nicklaus-designed course. Logan has worked aboard for golf resorts in five continents, specializing in grand openings in the Caribbean and Latin American region.
TPC Cartagena features an upscale clubhouse; expansive golf practice facility; the Karibana Beach Club, featuring three beaches, a full-service bar, pool; a tennis facility and water sports. It hosted Cartagena de Indias Karibana Championship earlier this year.
“Sam has proven himself to be a leader with the TPC Network, bringing an incredible amount of passion and aptitude for the sport,” Aliprando added.
Licensed by the PGA TOUR, the TPC Network is comprised of 34 premier private, resort and daily fee golf properties. Twenty of the clubs are operated by affiliates of PGA TOUR Golf Course Properties, Inc. Each TPC has hosted or has been designed to host TOUR-sponsored golf tournaments.
