Cathy Harbin launches management company

Cathy Harbin, a 28-year veteran in the golf industry, has announced the launch of On Course Operations, a new golf course management and consulting company.

Harbin served as executive director of Golf 20/20 for three years, where she was involved with several national committees. She has a strong relationship with the PGA of America and its Get Golf Ready program, a program she helped launch in 2009 while with Golf 20/20.

“Cathy Harbin is a rare blend of operational expertise, coupled with national service and perspective,” said Steve Mona, president and CEO of the World Golf Foundation. “She is one of the few people I know who has worked on the front lines of a wide variety of golf facilities, has overseen key strategic priorities of multiple golf facilities, yet has also worked with national leaders on issues impacting the health and vitality of the game on a macro level. She has also achieved a record of excellence at every stop during her distinguished career.”

During her four-year tenure with industry leader ClubCorp, Harbin oversaw golf revenue, programming, experiences and public golf.

“Cathy was instrumental in spearheading ClubCorp’s drive to recruit and engage more women, youth and casual golfers,” ClubCorp CEO Eric Affeldt said. “She epitomizes all that is good about our sport and we are fully supportive of her new venture.”

In addition to working with the PGA of America, Harbin’s client list is already growing with brands such as Honours Golf and Arcis Golf, according to a press release.

“Regardless of your task, when your focus is to ensure a balance between delivering memorable experiences, creating a good working environment for your team and producing profits, you will achieve success. It is tried and true and just takes commitment and execution to make it work,” Harbin said.

Harbin was named as one of the most admired golf course operators by Golf Inc. magazine in 2006.
