Troon Golf has signed on to manage the venerable BallenIsles Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
The property includes 54 holes of golf and a $26 million state-of-the-art sports and wellness complex scheduled to open in fall 2009. BallenIsles becomes the 10th Florida property under the management of Troon, the world’s largest course management company.
The private BallenIsles club’s courses were originally commissioned to become the home of the PGA, and hosted a number of major championships in the 1970s, including the PGA Championship. The club has three 18-hole courses — the North Course, designed by Joe Lee; the South Course (redesigned in 2000 by Gene Bates); and the East Course, a Dick Wilson design recently remodeled by Keith Foster.
