Garmany to step down as Troon Golf CEO

Dana Garmany, who has helped build Troon Golf from one course to the largest management company in the world, will step down as chief executive office, effective Jan. 1, 2010.

Garmany made the announcement at the recent Golf Inc. Conference in La Quinta, Calif.

He said current Troon president Hud Hinton will assume the CEO role.

Garmany, who over the past year has undergone successful treatment for colon cancer, said he would remain as chairman of the board.

After starting out his career in golf as a playing professional, Garmany founded Troon Golf in 1990 when he took over ownership of Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. Today, the company operates more than 200 golf courses around the globe.
