The First Tee this month opened a campaign to bring its golf and life skills training programs to the children of American military personnel at 50 U.S. bases.
First Tee officials said that initial effort will be expended to a total of 120 military facilities, both in the U.S. and abroad, by early 2011.
The First Tee hopes to reach approximately 187,000 children by the time the two-year agreement with the Department of Defense is concluded. Existing First Tee chapters located near U.S. bases will provide the golf and life skills training to age 5-18 children of military personnel.
Outside the U.S., Florida-based organization will provide training in First Tee programs to Morale, Welfare and Recreation personnel.
In addition to active duty military dependents, the children of National Guard or military Reserve personnel will receive free enrollment in First Tee chapters nearest to their homes.
