appliedgolf Management has been gradually growing since it launched in 2006, and now has 13 courses under management in six states on the East Coast.
Dave Wasenda, who previously worked for RDC Golf Group, started the company in October 2006, taking over Castle Golf. He landed five contracts by Spring of 2007, and was off and running. Since then he has added about two courses a year, most recently a 9-hole course in Hopewell, NJ — Stonybrook Golf Club.
“We have been able to create a niche for ourselves as a medium-sized company and get these golf courses that were in need of help – whether it was operational or financial turnarounds,” Wasenda said.
Most of the company’s courses required some kind of turnaround when appliedgolf took them over.
The New Jersey-based management company has courses in South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Indiana, in addition to its home state.
It operates both public and private courses, including an equity member course in Florida — the St. Petersburg Country Club.
“We currently are bidding on a few courses in New Jersey,” Wasenda said. “We aim for steady growth, keeping quality and balanc, making sure our customers are taken care of.”
