Quail Walk Country Club in Wetumpka, Ala., has been purchased by a commercial real estate developer who plans to convert the private course into a public facility.
Earl Singleton paid $5 million for the property to an undisclosed sole proprietor.
Despite the planned conversion, Singleton still plans to offer a membership option with a $300 initiation fee and $110 monthly dues. He also plans to spend between $2 million and $3 million to remodel the clubhouse and upgrade various other aspects of the facility.
The par-72 course measures 6,480 yards and runs along the Coosa River. Managed by Bill Barrett, the facility also features an exercise room, tanning beds, tennis courts and an Olympic-size swimming pool.
