(Golf Business & Real Estate) – Johnny Miller and a group of investors purchased the Silverado Golf Resort, a 1,200-acre property, in Napa, Calif. Troon Golf will manage Silverado’s golf operation. The three 18-hole championship courses, originally designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., are sprawled out over 360 rolling acres. Miller plans to extend the north course by 250 yards, widen the fairways on both courses, reposition some bunkers and build new tees. The new owners also plan to establish a golf school, dubbed the Johnny Miller Golf Academy. In order to re-introduce existing members to the club and attract new members, the group is offering package plans that include fireplace suite accommodations and half-priced golf rounds.
