Genoa Lakes becomes the eleventh club to join The Markers growing portfolio of golf destinations. A golf-only destination club that counts Champions Tour veteran Bruce Summerhays as one of its founders, The Markers acquires both the 18-hole, 7,263-yard Lakes Course and the 18-hole, 7,358-yard Resort Course. Greens fees range from $85 to $120 at the Lakes Course and $85 to $105 at the Resort Course. Peter Jacobsen and John Harbottle designed the Lakes Course while Harbottle and Johnny Miller collaborated to design the Resort Course. The seller had purchased what was then the Sierra Nevada Golf Resort in the spring of 2005 for a reported $6 million. The acquisition is part of an aggressive growth movement by The Markers, which has 16 future locations on its list, including Troon North and the National Golf Club in Pinehurst, N.C. The company would eventually like to expand to 36 locations. Its individual/family package begins around $300,000 with annual dues running approximately $15,000.
