European Golf Design will design an 18-hole resort golf course in Belek, Turkey, a region that the Turkish Ministry of Tourism designated for golf tourism.
The project, to be named the Olivion Golf Resort, is being developed by Bekay Property Partners, an experienced developer in Turkey and Asia.
Olivion will be the fourth course European Golf Design has worked on in the Belek region of Antalya, the previous three being the Sultan and Pasha courses at Antalya Golf Club, and the Montgomerie Course at Papillon Golf Club.
Olivion Golf Resort will be the first course in the region with freehold residential units for sale. The project will include a boutique hotel and sports academy.
WATG has already completed the master plan. GEO will provide a sustainability blueprint. Detailed design work for the golf course is now underway with construction due to start before the end of 2010, the course will open for play during 2012.
Jeremy Slessor, Managing Director of European Golf Design said “Accepting the invitation to participate in this project was one of the easier decisions we’ve had to make. We get the chance to work with an outstanding team, led by a developer who understands, and strives, for quality. We also get to return to an area of Europe that we’ve thoroughly enjoyed working in over the past ten years or so.”
