Richard Mandell is working on a complete bunker renovation at Myrtle Beach Golf Course. Frontier Golf Construction and Richard Mandell Golf Architecture will complete the project by August 15th. Jamestown Park Golf Course will also undergo a complete renovation. The cost will be from $1.5 to $4 million. Mandell will complete the renovation of the Army Navy Country Club, a 54-hole championship golf course. The 27 holes in Arlington were completed last summer, while the second nine in Fairfax will be done this summer. By next summer, the entire project will be complete.
Westwood Country Club in Vienna, Va., will undergo a $6M face-lift. Fifty-six years of faithfully serving members is about the right time for a makeover of any quality course. Gene Bates of Couples Bates Golf Design will upgrade not only course aesthetics, but functionality as well. Green upgrades and hole rerouting are on tap and also look for the driving range to be renovated. Ron Boyd heads up irrigation and environmental planning. Dale Winchester will also address drainage issues that have affected the flow of play in the past, which is a major issue driving the renovation. Considering the budget and efforts, the Westwood Country Club should enjoy a renewed beauty and vitality, fitting a major overhaul and facelift.
