New Massachusetts club set to open in 2010

A new semi-private club, Shining Rock Golf Club in Northbridge, Mass., is scheduled for a grand opening in April 2010.

The course, initially designed by Howard Maurer Golf Design and shepherded through grow-in and completion by construction site superintendent Patrick Sullivan, will be open to the public in addition to offering membership packages and privileges.

In addition to Shining Rock members and the general public, members of nearby Hopkinton Country Club will also enjoy member privileges at Shining Rock.

The course is named for a sheer granite cliff whose heavy concentration of mica causes the rock to glimmer in the sun following a rain storm.
