In what is reported to be the largest development contract in Iraq since the start of the Iraq War, Dubai-based developer Damac Properties has signed a €2.5 billion deal to build a new resort community.
Tarin Hills will sit on a 170 million-square-meter plot of land just 13 miles from Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq.
In addition to 4,500 residential units, primary and secondary schools, a medical center, a lake, hotels, a shopping mall and a water and theme park, Damac will build an 18-hole golf course that it hopes will help attract affluent buyers. Residential sale prices at Tarin Hills have yet to be announced.
Damac Properties is the largest private homebuilder in Dubai, with developments in Egypt, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia.
