A new semi-private golf facility that includes two 36-hole courses and an 18-hole par-3 course is schedule to open in rural Nebraska next spring.
Developers of The Prairie Club near Valentine, Neb., are planning a May 2010 for the club that will include a lodge with dining, lodging accommodations, a golf shop and other facilities. It also will feature a golf learning and performance center.
South Dakota businessman Paul Schock is developing the resort, which is designed to provide a pure golf experience amid the unique Nebraska Sandhills landscape.
The course already has more than founding 120 members who have paid a $15,000 deposit to join. One of the two championship courses will be reserved exclusively for members and guests each day.
Courses under construction include the Dunes, designed by Tom Lehman and Chris Brands, that features a rolling prairie-style terrain. The 18-hole Pines course is designed by Graham Marsh and winds through the remnants of a pine forest along the banks of the Snake River Canyon.
The par-3 Horse course is located along the canyon rim and is designed by architect Gil Hanse with Geoff Shackelford and Jim Wagner.
