Troon Privé growing fast, adds three clubs

Troon’s private club division, Troon Privé, continues to grow as a brisk pace and has added some well-known clubs in recent months, inlcuding The Saticoy Club in Somis, Calif.

Troon Privé manages more than 80 private clubs, half of which are member owned.

The Saticoy Club, located just north of Los Angeles, was founded in 1921 as the first private club in Ventura County. The 18-hole course was designed by William F. Bell and is regarded as one of top golf courses in California by Links Magazine. The club was recently purchased by Saticoy Partners, and the new ownership group has announced a number of course enhancements, including new bunkers, and tee complexes. In addition to on-course changes, plans also call for improvements to be made to dining spaces, locker rooms, the pool area and fitness facilities.

Troon’s private club division also took over management of Colonial Country Club in Cordova, Tenn., and Westhaven Golf Club in Franklin, Tenn.

Founded in 1913, Colonial has an 18-hole golf course, a clubhouse, tennis courts and a fitness center.

Troon Privé was brought in by the club’s new owners, who also purchased the adjoining 162-acre site of the now-closed North Course, which will be developed as a resort.

Westhaven opened in 2009. It has an 18-hole golf course designed by Arthur Hills, Steve Forrest & Associates, as well as a full-service clubhouse and a golf academy. The course is the centerpiece of the master-planned Westhaven residential community.

BCG closes sale, and management deal

Billy Casper Golf (BCG) signed on to manage the clubhouse operations at three publicly owned courses in north central New Jersey and a municipal track in New York.

The New Jersey courses – Tamarack in East Brunswick, The Meadows at Middlesex in Plainsboro and Raritan Landing in Piscataway – are owned by the Middlesex County Improvement Authority.

The New York course is at Town of Wallkill Golf Club in Orange County. The 18-hole track was built in 1991.

BCG also partnered with Morningstar Golf and Hospitality to purchase Fox Hollow Golf Club in Branchburg, N.J.

The sale price for the semi-private club was not disclosed.

Hal Purdy designed the course, which was renovated in 2000.
