Signet to manage Tillery Tradition C.C.

Signet Golf Associates, a Pinehurst, N.C.-based management company, has been managing Tillery Tradition Country Club in Mt. Gilead, N.C. since Feb.1 It is the fourth course for the company.

Tillery Tradition is a semi-private golf club on Lake Tillery that was founded by J.T. Russell in 2001. The Russell family has owned the course since his passing in April 2010.

“Tillery Tradition is the hidden gem of the Uwharries,” Signet president Peter Dejak said, referring to the North Carolina mountain range. “It’s really a spectacular course with a great clubhouse and first-class amenities. We’re excited to be working with the Russell family to manage such an outstanding facility.”

Signet hopes to attract more golfers and encourage more families to be involved in the club. It has already re-surfaced areas on five of the greens with bent grass sod, and elevated the overall agronomic efforts. A new fleet of golf carts is on the way, along with new range balls and interior improvements to the golf shop and the clubhouse overlooking the 18th green. Signet also plans to enhance customer service and upgrade culinary offerings.

The company is working on a variety of strategies to bring new golfers to the club, along with families. Signet believe the location is a stopping point en route to the Sandhills, and Tillery could also attract corporate outings and client golf from metropolitan areas like Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Greensboro and Asheboro. Lake Tillery residents have the option of arriving via boat, while a staff member and golf cart await at the dock.
